Volunteering at the Giant’s Causeway
Each year volunteers join us in caring for the Giant’s Causeway. There are plenty of roles that are rewarding and help to look after this nationally important place. Find out how you can volunteer and help others to enjoy this UNESCO World Heritage site.

Make new friends
Volunteering is a way to make new friends by working together knowing that you're helping a great cause. National Trust staff will support you in your role and often work alongside you as part of a wider team. There’s always time for tea breaks and chats during your day with other like-minded people.

Ways you could volunteer
Conservation work
The ranger team can be found outside working on restoring footpaths and fencing. You may find yourself removing scrub or planting new trees to increase biodiversity. The variety of tasks can change weekly and may even include assisting schools with rock pooling. If you like being active outdoors then this role may be of interest to you.
Supporting all visitors
If you like meeting new people then you may find a role of interest with the visitor welcome team. Work could vary from greeting all visitors to assisting with ticket sales and memberships. The retail team are on hand to help visitors with purchases and directions for onward travel to other National Trust places.
A wide variety of roles
There are many roles available at the Giant’s Causeway and nearby Carrick-a-Rede with tasks that include:
- Welcoming and engaging with all visitors
- Selling entry tickets and memberships
- Telling the stories of this special place
- Working outdoors on the coast and estate
- Preparing delicious refreshments in the café
- Sorting, pricing and selling retail stock
- Behind the scenes business administration work
